Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson tested positive for coronavirus in Australia?

Tom Hanks says he has contracted coronavirus.

The actor confirmed on Instagram and Twitter Wednesday that he and wife Rita Wilson, both 63, tested positive for COVID-19 in Australia after feeling ill.

"We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches," Hanks wrote. "Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."

Hanks' representative Francesca Ciuffo confirmed the diagnosis to USA TODAY.

The Oscar-winning actor has been in Australia for pre-production on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley film, in which he'll play Presley's manager Colonel Tom Parker. Production has been halted.

Hanks said he will be "tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires."

Warner Bros. said in a statement provided to USA TODAY by spokesman Paul McGuire that the studio is working closely with Australian health agencies to identify anyone who has come in contact with the affected cast member. The statement did not name Hanks specifically.

"The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world," the statement said.

"Well, now. ?" Hanks wrote. "The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed … Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?"

Hanks accompanied his health update with a picture of a used glove discarded in a bio hazard waste bin.

"We’ll keep the world posted and updated," Hanks vowed.

Australia has 128 confirmed cases of coronavirus as of Wednesday, according Johns Hopkins data. There have been three deaths in Australia.

The couple's son Chet Hanks, 29, weighed in on his Instagram shortly after the announcement, saying "it's true, my parents got coronavirus, crazy ... But I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine, they're not even that sick. They're not worried about it, they are not tripping. But they're going through the necessary health precautions, obviously."

He added, "I appreciate everyone's concern...I think it's all going to be alright."

Wilson has documented her time in Australia on Instagram over the past week, where she performed a sold-out concert in Brisbane on March 5 and at the iconic Sydney Opera House on March 7.

Earlier this week, Wilson appeared on Australia’s "Today Show" to perform "Throw Me A Party." She captioned a picture of her on-air performance: "It was indeed a party! Thanks for having me … Australia, you've treated me so well!!"

It's unclear when Wilson and Hanks were diagnosed.

Fellow stars sent the couple well-wishes following their announcement.

"Love and get well soon and come home soon to you and @RitaWilson," Julia Louis-Dreyfus responded to Hanks' tweet.

Hanks' longtime "Toy Story" co-star Tim Allen replied in character as Buzz Lightyear.

"Woody," he wrote. "I should have made you two wear my space suits! You and Rita rest and get well!"

Fellow Disney voice actor Josh Gad replied on Instagram: "We love you and your beautiful wife and need you back to full health!!

"Wishing you both a speedy recovery, and sending lots of love," wrote comedian Ellen DeGeneres.

"DAMN YOU TOM!!! You always gotta be first," joked Marlon Wayans. First Emmy winner, first Oscar winner, first Hollywood Coronavirus. That one was mine damn it! Curses. get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey."

Mia Farrow sent Hanks and Wilson "big love" and wished them "both a speedy recovery."

Actors Jack Black and Wilmer Valderrama and "Bachelor" alum Nick Viall commented with heart emojis on Hanks' Instagram post.
